Oil-Free Sing Bhujia Recipe | Healthy Baked Masala Peanuts
For years now, snacks have gotten a bad reputation. The moment people decide to eat healthy or focus on fitness, the first thing they usually cut out is deep-fried munchies. Suddenly, all the favourite evening snacks start feeling “unhealthy.”
But honestly, does eating healthy really mean giving up the foods you love?
We don’t think so. Snacking has always been a part of our everyday lives and sometimes, it’s not even about hunger. It’s about comfort, habit, and flavour.
The real difference lies in choosing better ways to enjoy those snacks.
Today’s younger generation is definitely becoming more conscious about what they eat. People are checking ingredients, avoiding oily food, and trying to make healthier choices wherever possible. Because of that, deep-fried snacks are slowly becoming something people avoid regularly.
But cravings don’t disappear.
The love for crunchy, spicy, chatpata snacks is still very real. Whether it’s namkeen during tea time or sing bhujiya while travelling, these flavours are something we all grew up enjoying. And honestly, nobody wants to completely give that up.
That’s exactly why baked snacks are becoming such a good alternative.
Instead of deep frying, baking gives you that same crunch and satisfying texture with much less oil. The taste stays, the flavour stays, but the snack feels lighter and easier to enjoy guilt-free.
Keeping this idea in mind, we tried giving a healthier twist to a classic favourite with an oil-free baked version of Masala Peanuts made using Apple Besan and Apple Himalayan Rock Salt.
Peanuts already make for a great snack because they’re filling and naturally rich in nutrients. Besan adds that familiar taste and crispy coating we all love in Indian snacks.
So let’s make a guilt-free, oil-free, and delicious version of our favourite sing bhujiya.
Ingredients for Making Oil Free Sing Bhujiya
Peanuts – 1 cup
Apple Besan – 1 cup
Apple Himalayan Rock Salt – 1 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Chaat masala – 1 tsp
Hing – 1 pinch
Water – as needed
Method
Step 1
Take peanuts in a big bowl and sprinkle a little water on them. Don’t add too much water at once.
Step 2
In another bowl, take Apple Besan, Apple Himalayan Rock Salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, chaat masala, hing, and mix them well.
Step 3
Now add peanuts to this bowl and ensure that the besan coats all the peanuts nicely. If needed, sprinkle a little more water. The coating should not become thick like pakoda batter.
Step 4
Spread the peanuts on a baking tray. Make sure they are separated properly; they will stick together while baking.
Step 5
Bake sing bhujiyas at 180°C for 10 minutes. Take them out of the oven and after 10 minutes, mix them once and bake again for 10 minutes so they become crispy on all sides.
Let them cool completely before eating because they become more crunchy after cooling.
Perfect snack for chai time or whenever you feel like munching on something spicy.
