How Apple Besan & Coarse Besan Enhance The Taste Of Indian Cooking

A basic ingredient transforms many Indian dishes with its rich, nutty, earthy taste, power of binding, balance of flavors, and moisture control.

Any guesses what this ingredient is?

Obviously, Apple Besan.

We usually talk about dishes where Apple Besan takes center stage. But, this time we are making besan and coarse besan a supporting character that perfects the overall experience of multiple dishes.

Apple Coarse Besan is a rougher version of regular besan that carries more pronounced flavours, produced by a leading manufacturer of besan, Apple Foods.

Let’s check out 5 recipes where Apple Besan and Apple Coarse Besan work quietly in the background enhancing textures and flavours of many dishes.

1. Aloo Tikki

Aloo Tikki is a fun, quick, and delicious dish. Whether you place it between burgers or eat it with ketchup, it is always amazing. However, the main ingredient in Aloo Tikki is potato. A light coating of besan around the tikki gives it a crisp, golden crust.

1 tbsp of Apple Besan added to the potato mix absorbs the extra moisture, ensuring crunchiness outside and softness inside of the aloo tikki.

2. Kadhi

Kadhi is not just a dish, it is an emotion for multiple regions of India. We Indians are blessed with a wide variety of Marwadi kadhi, Gujarati kadhi, Punjabi kadhi, Sindhi kadhi, and many more. However, the 2 ingredients always remain same in all types of Kadhi: Dahi and Apple Besan.

A small amount of Apple Besan gives kadhi a velvety and smooth consistency. Adding Apple Besan to the yogurt prevents it from curdling, ensuring a creamy texture, divine aroma, and mouthwatering taste of Kadhi.

3. Dahi Ke Kabab

Dahi Ke Kabab is a classic Delhi street food that is tangy, savoury, and filled with a punch of flavours. As the name suggests, it is primarily made by hung curd, but adding a spoon of Apple Besan in mixture of dahi, absorbs excess moisture and binds the kebabs, leading to creamy texture, and melt-in-mouth feel.

4. Kofta

From potatoes to paneer, to cabbage, to carrots, to cheese, to endless options in the kitchen that can be converted into soft yummy koftas. Just grate your desired ingredients, bind it with Apple Besan and voila, your koftas are ready to go in the curry.

Apple Besan is certainly the reason for subtle crispiness in Kofta, but apart from that, Apple Besan is the only reason, koftas don’t fall apart while mixed with curry.

5. Bharwan baingan

Many many people just outright hate eggplants. But due to healthy qualities, it is recommended to add eggplants in meal planning. Though eggplant is not a favourite of many, when they are filled with spices, onion, and peanuts, they become irrestatible.

And one spoon full of Apple Coarse Besan in the mixture absorbs excess moisture of onion and adds a delightful texture and flavour to the stuffing, ensuring that bharwan baingan doesn’t turn mushy.

More than happy to connect.
