Indian Traditional Festival Recipes With Apple Foods

It is that time of the year! Time for festivities, togetherness – mainly khushiyaan! And what better way to celebrate than with khushiyon ka swaad? Let’s discuss delicious recipes that you can now make for the festive season with Apple Foods:

Khaja with Apple Maida

It is a festive line-up! What do back-to-back festivals mean? MITHAI! And nothing says sweet much like Khaja – a loved sweet dish, Khaja can be found in every household! Let’s see how to make this delicious treat:

Ingredients:

2 cups Apple Maida

2 tbsps butter (melted)

Water

Pinch of Apple Himalayan Rock Salt

1.5 cups sugar 

Ghee

Oil for frying

– In a bowl, add Apple Maida, butter and salt. Mix well. 

– Gradually add water to knead it into a thick dough. Wrap the dough in a wet cloth and keep it aside for an hour or so.

– In a pan, add sugar and water to make sugar syrup. Let it boil.

– Ensure a string-like consistency for the sugar syrup.

– Take a dough, knead it again to give it a smooth texture. 

– Make small portions of the dough and roll each portion into a very thin sheet.

– Take a pinch of ghee or oil and spread it over the thin sheet.

– Sprinkle a little Apple Maida over the sheet to avoid sticking. 

– Roll the dough into a log-like shape, without leaving any gaps. After rolling, seal the edges with fingers. Do this for all portions of the dough. 

– In a pan, heat up oil on medium flame. 

– Fry the khaja pieces until they are crispy and turn golden in colour.

– Dip the fried khaja pieces into sugar syrup and remove them.

– Let the khaja pieces dry for an hour or two.

Ghughra / Gujiya with Apple Maida

A sweet and savoury treat for all! Let’s see how to make everyone’s-favourite gujiiya:

Ingredients:

2 cups Apple Maida

½ cup ghee

Water

1 cup khoya/ mawa

½ sugar (powdered)

¼ cup coconut (grated)

¼ cup almonds and pistachios (chopped finely)

½ tsp cardamom powder 

– In a bowl, add Apple Maida and ghee. Mix well with your hand to create a coarse texture.

– Add water gradually to make a dough. 

– Wrap the dough in wet or damp cloth and keep it aside. 

– In another bowl, add khoya/ mawa, sugar, coconut, chopped dry fruits, and cardamom powder. Mix it well to create the gujiya stuffing. 

– Take the dough and make small portions of it. 

– Roll out each portion into a small circle (approx 4-5 inches).

– Take a spoonful of the gujiya stuffing and place it in the middle of the circle.

– Fold the circle in half – making it a semicircle. Seal the edges with fingers or fork. Crimp the edges to give it the gujiya shape. 

– In a pan, heat oil in medium flame. 

– Fry gujiyas until they turn golden brown. Remove them.

Let gujiyas cool down completely to relish this sweet treat!

Besan Jaggery Cookies with Apple Besan

A healthier alternative for the ones who have a sweet tooth – besan jaggery cookies are your go-to this festive season! 

Ingredients:
1 cup Apple besan
½ cup jaggery
¼ cup ghee
¼ tsp cardamom powder
Pinch of Apple Himalayan Rock Salt
¼ cup dry fruits (chopped)

– Grate the jaggery into fine powder for better mixing. 

– In a bowl, add Apple Besan, grated jaggery, ghee, cardamom powder and Apple Himalayan Rock Salt. Mix well to make it a dough.

– Take small portions of dough and roll them into balls and then press to make cookies. 

– Add chopped dry fruits on the cookies. 

– Preheat the oven to 180°C. Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, until they turn golden brown.
